Issue 65

The school has been very warm this week but the children and staff have coped well, using the outside space as much as possible. I'm delighted to share that Year 4 had an absolutely fabulous time at our school sleepover last weekend. The pupils were buzzing with excitement, and it was great to hear about the fun activities they took part in. My huge thanks to our staff who made this event possible – their commitment to creating these special memories for our pupils goes above and beyond, and we're incredibly grateful for their hard work and enthusiasm.

Our school governors spent the day with us on Thursday. They worked collaboratively to identify what makes Poverest Primary School truly unique, observing lessons and engaging in meaningful conversations with our pupils. It's always wonderful to have their support and insight as we continue to develop and strengthen our school community.

I'm thrilled to announce that our trim trail is now officially open and ready for use! All pupils have been shown how to use the equipment safely, and it's already proving to be a fantastic playtime resource that will serve the children of Poverest for years to come. Please note that for safety reasons, the trim trail can only be used when supervised by school employees, which means it cannot be accessed by families after school hours.

Friday was particularly special as Willow and Walnut classes took to the stage for their moving-up assembly. It was wonderful to witness how much their confidence has grown since joining Poverest – their performances were truly impressive and demonstrated the progress they've made throughout their time with us.

A huge congratulations to the Golf Team for winning the Bromley Schools competition this week - a first for Poverest! It was a very close final competition with Poverest winning by one shot! Golf Club has been running for a while now on Mondays at Chelsfield Golf Club - the dedicated weekly practice is clearly paying off! Well done all.

Looking ahead, we have lots more exciting events planned for next week. Year 2 will be celebrating their moving-up assembly on Wednesday, followed by Year 6's final production performances on Thursday and Friday. These events are always emotional and proud moments for our entire school community.

With the weather remaining hot, please ensure your child wears a cap and brings a water bottle to school every day. Staying hydrated and protected from the sun is essential during these warmer days.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing many of you at next week's celebrations.

Focus Week - Year 1

This week in year one we have been creating our own number lines and practicing adding and subtracting with them. In English we created our own fantasy stories based on a story we have been reading g called The Magic Bed by John Burningham and practiced rereading our work to ensure it makes sense. For DT we had an amazing lesson where we got to design and create our own smoothies, they were very yummy!
