Focus Week - The Meadow
We have been enjoying the sunshine here in the Meadow and so are the plants! Our flower beds and boxes have been flourishing as they enjoy the sunlight and careful monitoring and watering by the children in Year 5. The children have enjoyed watching as these plants started as seedlings, not knowing what to expect from each one, they have all turned into beautiful flowers giving us new surprises every day! Watching these plants bloom after the children planted them boosts their self esteem and sense of accomplishment as well as allowing the children to explore textures and smells.
We additionally have a number of herbs, such as mint, basil and coriander, which the children enjoy smelling and have even used to add flavour and variety at snack time!
This week we would like to highlight the wonderful activities being enjoyed daily at lunch time in the Meadow. During the lunch hour, children across the school are able to come and join in with the games, art activities and make new friends. By doing so, children enhance their social skills by connecting with peers who share similar interests and potentially finding new hobbies or interests.
We welcome children who have unfortunately broken a bone or two, ensuring they have a safe space to eat and or spend playtime with their friends, as well as those who may be anxious and struggle with the playground setting. The Meadow provides a quiet, relaxed space for all the children to enjoy their free time.
Miss Golding leads our lunchtime Meadow sessions and is greeted daily with smiling faces, eager to find out what new games, puzzles or art activities are available. The children have been thriving and enjoying all the exciting games available to them. At the moment, UNO is the favourite card game of choice, which will often see large groups of children mixed across the year groups playing with adults too! This really is wonderful to witness, as building relationships with children and adults across the school is a positive way to improve well-being and contribute to better academic outcomes.
