Focus Week - Year 5
Year 5’s Fantastic Half-Term Adventures So Far!
Year 5 has had an exciting and engaging half-term so far, filled with fascinating learning and wonderful experiences!
In English, they have been writing their own adventurous stories inspired by Alice in Wonderland, using vivid descriptions and imaginative plots to bring their versions of Wonderland to life. In maths, they have been developing their understanding of fractions and decimals, applying their knowledge to real-world problem-solving challenges.
History lessons have taken us back in time to explore the incredible Mayan civilization, learning about their impressive achievements, from ancient ball games, to their complex calendar system. In science, we have been investigating forces, conducting hands-on experiments to explore gravity, friction, and air resistance. Meanwhile, in Spanish, our budding linguists have been learning the vocabulary for different sports, building their confidence in speaking and writing.
This half-term has also been filled with exciting whole-school events! Year 5 had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day, dressing up as their favourite book characters and taking part in a lively parade to showcase their creative costumes. A particular highlight was the Alice in Wonderland dance workshop, where students brought the magical tale to life through movement and expression.
Well done, Year 5 – you have already achieved so much, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the half-term brings! 🎉👏
