Did anyone notice anything different about last week’s newsletter? It wasn’t actually written by me but by Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) This week’s newsletter introduction is written by me – honestly! I believe it is important to keep up to date with developing technology and strongly feel that if you stand still in life you will be overtaken! At Poverest we were ahead of the game when we introduced the Chromebooks and Google Classroom and this became a key part of life when coronavirus struck our World. Artificial intelligence does seem very daunting and potentially scary, but by investing time in exploring the technology and understanding it better, we will be able to make our own informed decisions about when we can use it to our benefit.
Well done to our Year 3 and 4 students who participated in the Tri-Golf tournament at Chelsfield Lakes Golf Centre on Monday. We have great links with the golf course with many children attending a club there each week.
Thank you to Neil Coleman from St Barnabas Church for leading our Easter assemblies this week. It is always important to understand that the reason we have an Easter break is not based on chocolate!
I am pleased to announce the completion of our new Forest School Hedge planting project. We now have a larger area for the children to use as part of Forest School. Mr. Duffin has definitely appreciated the slightly warmer weather this week! I also want to thank Selco, who have given us a significant discount on the wood for the new raised beds and repairs to the gazebo – the next big project!
Today has been lovely and a great celebration in our school with children from different year groups working together. We began with our annual Easter Bonnet parade, followed by the highly anticipated Easter Egg Hunts, which filled the school with smiles and a lot of laughter from all involved.
It was great to see so many of you celebrating your children's efforts and progress in their learning at parents' evening this week. Your support and involvement in your children's education are invaluable to their success in life.
Lastly, I am delighted to share that our Easter Egg raffle, organised by the PTA, has been a tremendous success. Together, we raised an impressive £885 for the benefit of our children. I would like to also extend a massive thank you to Mrs. Williams, Mr. Smith, Mrs. Gunn, and all the Year 5 and Year 6 students who dedicated their time and effort to selling the tickets and preparing the prizes.
As we look ahead to the Easter break, I want to remind you that school will resume on Monday the 15th of April. I hope you and your family have a wonderful and restful long Easter weekend.
Many thanks,
Paul Haylock (Head Teacher)
