March 2024

Issue 24

I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you have had a wonderful week. As we approach the end of term, I wanted to take a moment to update you on the exciting events and achievements that have been happening here at Poverest Primary School.

This week, the senior leadership team has been busy conducting pupil progress review meetings with every class teacher. These meetings allow us to closely examine the learning of each individual child and determine the best next steps to support their educational journey next term. We are committed to ensuring that every child receives the support and guidance they need to thrive academically.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to the teachers of Willow and Walnut for organising a spectacular talent show on Tuesday. It was truly a delight for us all to see the talents of our youngest children on the stage and a great confidence booster for them and the many performances they will do in the future.

A big thank you to Mrs. Inwood and all the staff members involved in putting together a fantastic Spring Concert. The concert was a celebration of the children's musical achievements so far this year, and it was a joy to see their progress from where they were in September. We are all immensely proud of their accomplishments.

In sports news, I am thrilled to announce that our Lacrosse team came second in the Bromley schools' competition, securing their spot in the regional competition. Let us cheer them on as they strive to make it to the final once again this year! Additionally, our Maple class students excelled in a ten-pin bowling competition, securing a well-deserved second place. I would also like to commend them for their excellent behaviour, which was acknowledged by the other participating schools.

As we prepare to break up for the Easter holidays, please take note of the following important notices. Next week, we will be breaking up on Thursday, with Reception classes being collected at 1:25, KS1 at 1:30, and KS2 at 1:35. Ash and Maple classes will be collected at 1:15.

We invite you all to join us for the Spring Bonnet parade, which will take place on the playground at 9:00 on Thursday. All children will be included in the walk around the playground. Afterwards, the Friends of Poverest will set up an Easter Egg hunt for all the children in the school to enjoy.

Lastly, I would like to remind you that Parents' Evening will be held next week on Tuesday and Wednesday in the main school hall. This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher and discuss their progress and achievements.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We are grateful for the support you give to us all.

Have a great weekend.

This week, we are raising awareness for The Rainforest Alliance and their important work. You may spot The Rainforest Alliance image on foods at the supermarket! The Rainforest Alliance seal promotes collective action for people and nature. It amplifies and reinforces the beneficial impacts of responsible choices, from farms and forests all the way to the supermarket check-out. The seal allows you to recognise and choose products that contribute towards a better future for people and the planet. How many products can you spot whilst shopping with The Rainforest Alliance logo?

Aaron and Yesim's fundraiser for Friends of Poverest.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are thrilled to share that we will be participating in the Brighton Marathon on April 7, 2024, to support a cause that is very close to our hearts - Friends of Poverest.

Friends of Poverest is an incredible charity that exists solely to support Poverest Primary School. As parents and members of the community, we have witnessed firsthand the positive impact this organisation has on the lives of the students.

The funds raised by Friends of Poverest are used to provide essential resources and experiences for the pupils throughout the school year. From educational tools to exciting field trips, every penny goes towards enhancing their learning journey.

But it doesn't stop there. Friends of Poverest also ensures that every child feels special and celebrated. They provide book gifts for children transitioning from Reception to Year 1, organise Teddy Bear's Picnic packs for fun-filled outdoor adventures, and even contribute towards Christmas decorations for a magical festive lunch.

As a registered charity, Friends of Poverest ensures that 100% of the funds raised directly benefit the school and its students. They work tirelessly throughout the year, organising events, seeking donations, and even partnering with employee fundraising matching schemes.

We are truly inspired by their dedication and commitment to making a difference in our children's lives. That's why we are reaching out to you today with an ask - please consider supporting us in this marathon endeavour by making a donation towards Friends of Poverest. Your contribution will go a long way in empowering these young minds and providing them with opportunities they deserve.

Together, we can create a brighter future for our children. Thank you so much for your generosity and support!
