Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to this week’s newsletter! It has been another wonderfully busy week with lots happening!
Our children have had incredible opportunities to enrich their learning outside the classroom this week. Year 6 visited Shrek's Adventure on the South Bank, which will support them in future learning opportunities. Whilst Year 4 visited the Natural History Museum, exploring the exhibits linking directly with their current studies, I heard the dinosaurs were a particular favourite. Both year groups represented our school brilliantly, and it was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and engagement throughout both trips.
Our school has been officially recognised and awarded for our outstanding attendance records this week, placing us within the top 10% of schools nationwide for improving attendance over the last academic year. This achievement is a direct result of everyone's hard work and dedication to ensuring children are in school every day. Thank you so much for your ongoing support in ensuring your children attend school as regularly and punctually as possible. It makes a huge difference to their learning and wellbeing.
It was a real privilege to welcome back our former head teacher, Mrs. Weeks, for this year's Weeks' Cup. The children put on a marvellous showcase, performing a variety of delightful musical pieces. Mrs. Weeks had the delightful, yet difficult, task of selecting this year’s winner. Well done to all our talented performers, and thank you to Mrs. Weeks for returning to judge such a special event!
Thank you to everyone who continues to park safely and thoughtfully on the road outside the school during drop-off and pick-up times. You may have noticed a traffic warden present this week, ensuring that only Blue Badge holders park on the double yellow lines outside the gates. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping the road safe for all our children and families.
On Friday, Rev. Neil Colman from St Barnabas Church led our Harvest Assembly. Neil and his wife Jen, who taught at Poverest, are leaving our area to take up a post in a different church. I wish to thank them for all they have given to Poverest over the years and wish them both the best of luck in their new roles and home.
Next week we have our parents' evening appointments with the teachers and yourselves. It's a great time to discuss how your children have settled into their new classes and identify your children's next academic and social targets, which we can all work on together to support your children.
Have a wonderful weekend!
