Focus Week – Reception
What a wonderful first week we’ve had in Reception! We are so proud of how quickly the children have settled into their new school routines and how confidently they have approached this exciting new chapter in their lives. Starting school is such a big step, and it has been lovely to see their smiles and enthusiasm.
The children have been eager to explore their classrooms and the garden area, meet new friends, and take part in a variety of activities this week. They have quickly begun to follow our daily routines, such as coming in every day, hanging up their belongings on their pegs, and joining the group on the carpet. Their confidence has grown every day as they’ve become more familiar with the structure of the school day.
One of the highlights of the week has been seeing the children get to know each other and make new friends. They have had fun playing together and learning to share resources, and have been fantastic at taking turns, even forming a line for the climbing frame independently and patiently waiting for their turn! Whether building in the construction area or creating imaginative games in the home corner, the children are forming very special bonds.
In class, the children have been busy with activities designed to help us get to know them. They have been writing their names and drawing self-portraits, which we will proudly display in our classrooms. We have also spent time enjoying a range of songs and stories together. The children have listened carefully, joined in with repeated phrases, and shared their thoughts about the characters and events. Story time has already become a calm and special part of our day, and it is lovely to see how engaged they are.
The children were also fantastic in their first PE lessons this week! The morning children enjoyed playing with balls and the parachute, while the afternoon children had fun learning different games. We are looking forward to all the children taking part in PE together next week!
We are incredibly proud of each child and the way they have embraced their first week at school. We look forward to many more weeks of fun, learning, and discovery together.
