It has been another busy and exciting week at Poverest Primary School!
First and foremost, last Saturday's Poverest Summer Fair was a roaring success! I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported us—it was wonderful to see such a massive turnout, especially with everyone braving the blazing summer heat. Thanks to your incredible generosity and the hard work of our volunteers and staff, we managed to raise over £3500 for our school. An event like this truly shows the strength of our community, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support.
Beyond the excitement of the fair, the whole school has been full of energy this week as the children took part in the Daily Mile. Pupils have been running every single day to raise vital funds for the Freddie Farmer Foundation. It was fantastic to see so many families joining in the fun on Friday afternoon, bringing plenty of enthusiasm and running alongside their children. Thank you to everyone who brought their running shoes to support such a wonderful charity and celebrate our children's active efforts.
Alongside these main community events, our Year 6 pupils have been incredibly busy behind the scenes as they rehearse for their upcoming end-of-year performance, 'Dare to Dream'. They have put an immense amount of hard work into learning lines, songs, and choreography this week to ensure they are fully ready for the big show next week. The children are showing great dedication, and we cannot wait to see them shine on stage.
In addition to all of these main events, we have had plenty of other exciting activities happening across the school and beyond the classroom this week:
Out and About: Our Year 3 pupils enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to the Tate Modern art gallery, exploring world-class artwork and soaking up plenty of creative inspiration.
Field Work: Year 4 had a brilliant, hands-on session this week as they went pond dipping, showing great curiosity as they inspected and identified local freshwater wildlife.
Unforgettable Memories: Our Year 6 pupils also enjoyed a well-deserved celebration trip out to Chessington World of Adventures, sharing a thrilling day of rides and fun together ahead of their upcoming transition to secondary school.
I wish you all a wonderful and restful weekend.
