June 2026

Issue 42

It has been another wonderfully productive week across all year groups, filled with academic milestones, sporting achievements, and creative energy.
Our transition plans for September are already well underway. This week, our Early Years teachers have been visiting our incoming Reception children in their current nursery settings. These visits are vital for building early relationships and ensuring a smooth, confident start to school life.
Our children have shown tremendous focus and dedication this week.
  • Year 1: Well done to all Year 1 pupils who completed their Phonics Screening Check.
  • Year 4: A huge congratulations to Year 4 for tackling their Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) with confidence.
The school has been filled with music as Year 6 continue to work incredibly hard on their end-of-year production. The singing echoing down the corridors sounds absolutely wonderful, and we cannot wait for the final performances.
On Wednesday, Key Stage 2 enjoyed an inspiring author visit, which sparked fantastic discussions and a renewed excitement for reading and creative writing across the classrooms.
Our sports teams have represented the school with immense pride and teamwork this week:
  • Tuesday: Our athletes competed at the highest level in the Southern Lacrosse Finals at the Surrey Sports Park.
  • Wednesday: The boys’ development squad displayed excellent sportsmanship during their fixture at Warren Road Primary School.
House Points Winner: Red House!
Finally, a massive congratulations to Red House! They earned the most positive behaviour points this week, demonstrating an outstanding attitude to learning and school life. As a reward for their hard work, Red House celebrated with a well-deserved disco this afternoon!
Thank you for your continued support in making our school community so special. Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

Focus Week - Year 5

Year 5 have had a fabulous couple of weeks and have enjoyed tasting and developing pasta sauces in DT - trying to improve the nutritional value - for a sauce to create at home!  In music, they have been thoroughly enjoying our new topic - Musical Theatre - and have been singing and performing with great enthusiasm!

Earlier this month, they discussed the importance of having a break from technology during the school day and wrote a balanced argument to generate a speech to deliver to Mr Haylock.  Their speech was either to convince him to have a whole school electric-free day or not (as their views were given in the speech).  Some interesting facts and figures were revealed and we are yet to receive the outcome!

In Geography, we have been learning about plastic pollution in our oceans and we are so excited to share with you our song about saving the oceans at the summer fair on 27th June. In computing we have been programming using Scratch and we were so excited to receive the results of our poetry competition with Edgbury - congratulations Gabriella - the judges thought your poem was amazing! Phew! So much fun learning!
