On your walk home today, you might see our new flag waving on the hill. We haven't had a flag over the winter as the last one became damaged in the wind. Thank you to Mr Parker, Mr Scott and our vice-chair of governors, Michael Parker, for fixing the pole and raising the flag.
Our reception children have really enjoyed their visits to the farm over the last week, learning lots about the different animals. The children from Walnut have been very excited to tell me all about it this week and I am sure Willow class will be as well next week.
A huge congratulations to Mrs Senft, who completed her challenge of walking up to the top of Mount Snowdon last Saturday. A massive achievement and she has also raised lots of funds for sensory toys for the children in The Orchard. If you would like to contribute, the link is:
Our Orchard classes hosted some trainee teachers this week from a group of training schools. It was lovely to show off our Orchard provision teaching to the trainees as part of their development. It was also lovely to see Miss Gavin, who leads the group and worked at Poverest a few years ago.
Our assemblies this week have focused on the life of Sir David Attenborough, who celebrated his 100th birthday on Friday. We explored his life but also looked at the message he wants us all to follow: to look after our own environments more and to remember that every little change helps. We've had lots of children using the bins correctly this week and picking up any litter they have found!
I will finish this week by wishing all of our Year 6 children the very best of luck with their SATs, which start next Monday. The staff have been full of praise for the children's efforts over the year, with many improving huge amounts. The best preparation over the weekend is plenty of fresh air, some early nights and then use next week as a time to show off all that they know. Well done Year 6, we are all very proud of every single one of you!
