There have been lots of exciting things happening in school this week. Firstly, the Hatching Chicken Eggs arrived in EYFS and the whole school have enjoyed watching them hatch over the webcam that was set up. The chickens will be collected next Friday to be transported to their forever home. It is wonderful for the children to see new life coming into the world, but we also wanted to ensure the chickens would be well looked after afterwards. Mr Duffin took a group of children off to the Bromley Tri-Golf competition this week and once again the children did us proud, coming second overall and will now represent Bromley in the London Youth Games in July. Another fantastic sporting achievement for Poverest!
My assemblies this week focused on the effort we all need to make if we want to get better at something. It was based around Marathon training and running, but applied to anything in life. If you want to improve your reading or spelling, you must practice, even if at first it is challenging. We finished our assemblies, wishing all our Mini Marathoners the best of luck on Saturday and thank you to Mr Duffin for organising. We also wish Mr Duffin the best of luck on Sunday as he runs the London Marathon for the 4th time. I also wish those parents running the best of luck as well - remember to just keep putting one foot in front of the other! Continuing our sporting stories, we are very grateful to Ian from Kent Cricket for offering a free Cricket coaching session to Year 5 as part of Women's Cricket Day.
On Tuesday, we celebrated Autism Awareness with our own 'Wear Green to be Seen' Day. A huge well done and thank you to those children who shared their experiences of living with Autism with the rest of the school. It was a very brave thing to do but very important in helping other children understand how the world feels to them.
I wish everyone a lovely weekend and if you have the time on Saturday or Sunday, log onto the BBC iPlayer and see if you can see anyone in the Poverest community running!
