What an incredible time our Year 6 students had during their residential trip to PGL Marchants Hill! From the moment we arrived, excitement was in the air as the children eagerly anticipated the activities lined up for them. Over the course of the trip, they took part in a fantastic range of adventures, including climbing, where they faced their fears head-on, and exhilarating abseiling that truly tested their nerves. The fun didn’t stop there! Everyone got involved in archery tag, showcasing their competitive spirit and aiming for those bullseyes. Evenings were spent gathered around the campfire, sharing stories, singing songs, and roasting marshmallows – a true highlight for many. It was heartwarming to see the children bonding and creating unforgettable memories together. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and teamwork. A huge thank you to everyone who made this trip possible; we can't wait to see what next year brings!
On Monday we celebrated Odd Socks Day. The children (and some of the staff!) came in wearing odd socks to celebrate the start of Anti- Bullying Week. During the week, the children were thinking about what bullying is, why we think it happens and what we can do if we or someone we know is being bullied.
The whole school came together on Tuesday, for a Remembrance day assembly. Mrs Dale led us in this and shared the history and messages around this special day and we joined together at 11am for a 2 minute silence. The children were very respectful and during the assembly had some thoughtful questions. In the lead up to this some of our children did a great job of selling poppies and other commemorative items, raising money for the Royal British Legion. Thank you to the Year 6 children for their help with this.
Year 3 enjoyed a trip to the cinema on Monday to see Garfield and Year 5 had their visit on Friday to see Kensuke's Kingdom. The children all enjoyed their movies, and while they were out they displayed great behaviour - making the staff all very proud.
This week, the works have begun for the installation of the wonderful outdoor classroom. Thank you to the Friend of Poverest again for all of their hard work in raising the funding for this. The benefits of having an Outdoor Classroom include improving mental health and wellbeing, enhancing relationships with nature and providing a fun Forest School experience. The work has been going on during the week, giving the children in reception a great view of all the construction vehicles. The contractors are aiming to be finished by today!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
