A highlight this week has been our Reading Adventure Days. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of the event, which included a problem to solve, which was shared on the big screen via video and then a selection of problems to solve, which the children had to read and all the solved problems enable the children to solve the larger mystery. Linking reading to fun activities will inspire children to foster a love of reading and we all know that children who can read regularly and understand what they read will attain higher levels throughout their education.
My assembly this week shared a story about a church in Sweden being transported 5km to a new community to save it from being destroyed. We looked at identifying other famous buildings around the World before talking about the importance of welcoming new people into our communities, whether this is in Poverest or in outside clubs, such as welcoming new players into football teams.
The teachers continued with their learning this week as well. They received training on the use of their new interactive teaching screens and how they can be used to support our curriculum intent by improving engagement, increasing active learning, and continuing to develop children's subject knowledge.
Please be considerate when parking on our school street; many are choosing to illegally park on the double yellow lines, especially at the end of the day, before the school street starts. This takes up spaces which our disabled blue badge holders cannot use, making the picking up of their SEND children very difficult. If those who can park a little further away do so, it really does help the lives of our parents who have a genuine need to park closer to the school building.
Next week is National Coding Week. I am convinced that many jobs in the future will be linked to computing, A.I. or some kind of coding. Giving our children experience of these will give them strong foundations to learn more later in life and have a better understanding of how things work. We also have First Aid training again for all in Years 2 and 6. This happens every year, so other children will get the training twice in their Poverest education.
I wish all our families a lovely weekend, and as I have talked to the children this week, let's all be welcoming and considerate of everyone in our community.
