Welcome to Walnut Class! It has been a pleasure getting to know our new class this week!
Miss Stevens (email@example.com) is the class teacher and she is assisted by Miss King & Mr H. Mr Duffin is the P.E teacher, Mrs Mills is the music teacher and Mrs McDonald is the forest school teacher.
Our topics for the year are:
Autumn: Ourselves and Celebrations
Spring: People who help us & Growing
Summer: Houses and Homes & Journeys
We like to enjoy regular school trips at Poverest to enhance the children's learning. After half term we will take a walk to Waterstones and nearer Christmas we will enjoy a Pantomime.
During the Spring term we look forward to visiting 'Little People' in Maidstone where we will find out more about people who help us. Later on in the Spring term we will have two visiting companies to enhance our Growing topic.
Lastly, in the summer term we will enjoy a study of the local area and will later on explore a journey to a nearby place of interest.
More details will follow regarding our trips but we wanted to let you know in advance so you are aware.
Please read the following information which will begin in due course.
Your child will choose the books (with you) that they want to read from a selection every Monday, Wednesday & Friday. They can select either one or two books from the baskets on each of these days. You just need to record in their reading records the title of the books that they have read and sign to say that you have looked at the book with them. You may also write any comments about what they liked about the book, any words that they were able to read etc. Every Friday a member of staff will sign the records also to show that they have read and responded to any comments that you have made. Please record on Saturday & Sunday any additional books that you have read at home.
Every Thursday the home learning task will be put in the weekly news section on this page and a paper copy put in their homework book every Friday to be returned to school the following Friday. Your child will tell the class what they have done for their homework in small groups to practise their speaking and listening skills.
To encourage creativity you can decide how you present the homework (pictures, models, cooking, posters, songs etc) and please send any photos via class dojo and we will print them for you. If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to ask us. .
Our school PE kit consists of blue/black shorts, a white t-shirt/polo shirt and plimsolls. In the winter, they may wear blue/black jogging bottoms and a blue/black jumper.
Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school every day as we may do extra activities throughout the week.
