School Council
Our School Council consists of two, class elected representatives from each form. The children are encouraged to take action within our local and wider community by taking on projects to make changes for the better. We have taken part in 2 large projects this year: raising money for children in poverty and a huge litter pick in our local area . We are also a WE schools member; which is a free active citizenship programme that empowers children with skills and tools to take social action. The children on the school council celebrated the impact they make at WE Day, which took place on 4 March at the SSE Arena, Wembley. WE Day brings together world-renowned speakers and award-winning performers with 12,000 young people, to celebrate the actions they’ve taken over the past year. Motivational speakers included Laura Whitmore, Julia Gillard and Bluey Robinson. There were also fantastic performances from Leona Lewis and Idris Elber. The councillors were all inspired by the stories of resilience, positivity and caring and discussed the positive messages with pupils in their classes. Our next WE schools project is a charity fundraiser. WE WALK FOR WATER focuses on raising funds and awareness for children and communities who have to travel long distances to collect safe drinking water. This campaign challenges students to put themselves in the shoes of these individuals and do a sponsored walk with an amount of water, either around the school playground/field or in the local area. We are looking forward to both challenges of achieving our fundraising goal and walking a considerable distance.
