English:
Today, you are reading a poem. Look at Main Character. What can you spot in this picture? Use the PowerPoint on Expanded Noun Phrases and complete Owl’s Head Noun Hunt and Owl’s Expanded Noun Phrases.
Next, choose one of the Quangle Wangle Creatures. Fill in Spotter’s Guide for this creature. Write a description of what they look like.

Maths:
Today, you are looking at Multiplication ‘arithmagons’. Look at the Learning reminders and then tackle either mild or hot task.
Think you’ve mastered the activity? Have a go at the extra questions.

Music:

Science:
This week you will be learning about Electrical Circuits. Look at the PowerPoint presentation and then fill in the Complete or Incomplete Circuit Activity Sheet. You will need to look at each circuit in turn and make a prediction on whether or not the circuit is complete. Then watch the video links to see if your prediction was correct.

English:
Read the Owl and Pussycat again. What do you notice that is new when you read it today? Look up the meanings of the words on Vocabulary. Write meanings in your own words.
Next, read the first two verses of The Further Adventures of the Owl and the Pussycat by Julia Donaldson. What makes it like Edward Lear’s poem? Use words and pictures to complete Predictions.
After that, read The Owl and the Astronaut. This is a new version of the poem. Complete New Adventure Planner to plan your own new version.


Maths:
Today, you are revising finding non-unit fractions of amounts. Look at the learning reminders and then tackle either mild or hot task.
Think you’ve cracked it? Have a go at the investigation.

Science:

Today, you are going to read about a writer. Read Edward Lear – Biography and Edward Lear Facts. Which of these pieces of writing do you think gives the best information? Why?
Next, read The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear. Listen to the poem being sung using the link below. What did you like/dislike about the poem? Sort the Events from the poem into the right order.
After that, imagine your own magical journey. Answer the questions on Magical Journey Planner.
Next, write about your magical journey. You can write it as a story or you could try writing it as a poem.

I hope you are all well.

Spellings:
Here are some activities to help you with your revision for the spelling rules you have learnt in Year 4. Hive game will be this morning at 11am. I will dojo the code before hand.

This will be our last hive game for the summer term.


English:
Please complete 'I'm a Star' activity sheet.


Maths:
Today you will be learning about using Roman Numerals to 100. Read the learning reminders. Next tackle either the mild or hot questions. Think you've cracked it? Then have a go at the investigation.


Computing:
Go to Purple Mash click on 2Do and play the game- Treasure of Outer Space. Collect the treasure chests before the nasty aliens get you!

RE:
This week you will be learning about the Torah. Use the instructions given in the Powerpoint presentation to make your own scroll. Use the Hebrew Alphabet sheet to cut and stick the letters onto your scroll or use them as a guide for writing them yourself. If you want to go one step further, design and create your own Yad to read your scroll with (this could be made out of playdough or any material you like).

History:
This is the final lesson for our WW2 topic. You have the next two weeks to do this activity. First read the powerpoint, next complete the ‘WW2 Timeline Activity Sheet’, to order and describe key events from the war. After that use the ‘WW2 Turning Point Investigation Activity Sheet’, this will help you to structure and organise your investigation that you will be doing. We would like you to use the internet to research and write a report on what you think was the turning point in WW2.


Music:

Look at the powerpoint on Electrical Appliances. First you will need to sort the Appliances cards into those that use electricity and those that don’t. After that complete the Using Electricity Safely sheet.

Here are some activities to help you with your revision for the spelling rules you have learnt in Year 4. Hive game will be tomorrow morning at 11am.

English:
Read the Medusa- The Quest of Perseus powerpoint. Next choose one of the differentiated reading comprehension activity sheets to read and answer the questions, then write your own version of what happened to Perseus next in the adventure.

Maths:
Today you will count on and back in steps of 25 and 1000. Watch the powerpoint presentation. Next tackle either the mild or hot questions. Think you've cracked it? Then have a go at the investigation.

Computing:

Read 'Different Versions of Greek Myths' and then use 'Differences' to compare the versions of Icarus. After that, look at 'Daedalus's Diary' and on the 'Diary Paper' write Icarus's diary entry.

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Spellings:
This week our spellings are List 32 possessive apostrophes with plural words. Here are some activities to help you. Hive game will be today at 11am, I will dojo the code 5 to 10 minutes before.

English:
Listen to Voices in the Park again. What do you notice about the story this time? Read 'No Paragraphs', this is Smudge and Charles' voices, but there are no paragraphs, make marks on the text to show where you would start a new paragraph to make the writing clearer. Now imagine all four characters go to the park the next day. What do they each do? Write your notes on 'The Next Day' and pick one of the characters, now write how they would tell you about what happened the next day. Don't forget to organise your writing in paragraphs.


Maths:
Today you will be estimating weights and ordering items by weight. Start be reading through the learning reminders, then tackle the mild or hot questions. Think you've cracked it? Then have a go at the investigation.


RE:
Today you will learn about special festivals within Judaism. First watch the powerpoint presentation, can you explain to a family member how a Jewish family might prepare for Shabbat? Look at the Seder Plate in the presentation, design your own food plate. Include food that would remind you of home if you were in another country.

Computing:
This week we would like you to write a review on a completed computer game. Go to Purple Mash, click on 2Do and share your thoughts and feelings with this computer game review template.

Science:
This week we will be looking at Electricity.
Start by completing the Electricity Mind Map. What do you already know about Electricity? What things would you like to find out about electricity? Next watch the presentation on Exciting Electricity use the information from the presentation to find out about how electricity is generated and where it comes from. After that, write commentary that will go with the film clip that you watched in the presentation. Used what you have learnt to help you write your commentary.


History:

I hope everyone is feeling fine.

This week our spellings are List 32 possessive apostrophes with plural words. Here are some activities to help you. Remember to practise on Spelling shed. Hive game will be this Friday.

English:
Listen to 'Silly Billy', link attached. What do you like about this story? Next read 'Worry Doll Instructions'. Highlight the imperative verbs in this writing. Then re-write the instructions into a numbered list. Use the YouTube link to help you re-write your instructions. After that complete the table about 'Billy Worries' and write a letter to the worry-dolls explaining your own worries.
You might like to make your own set of worry-dolls, there is a link on how to make them using dolly pegs. Then at night before you go to sleep, you can whisper your worries to the dolls and place them under your pillow and in the morning your worries will have disappeared.

Maths:
Today you will be solving scaling problems; converting centimetres to metres. Start be reading through the learning reminders, then tackle the mild or hot questions. Think you've cracked it? Then have a go at the investigation.

Read the 'Draft Poem' and spot the changes that the writer made when they re-read the poem. Next write your own insult poem, choose an object to insult not a person. Use the planner and then write your poem.

First read the Science powerpoint on Pitch, then read the powerpoint ‘Starry-Eyed Stans Band Music, it will inform you about different musical instruments you might find in a band.
Next have a look at the PDF on the different instruments you could make out of recycled materials. Choose an instrument and make it, then put a photo on class dojo.


History/Topic:
Read the powerpoint on ‘The Role of Women in WW2’. This activity is about the changing roles of women during the war. Imagine you’re a woman living during WW2 who has just been given a job. Read ‘Your Offer of Employment Letter’ to see what job you will be doing. Next research all about it so you know what the job involves. After that complete the ‘Job Description’ activity sheet to describe the details of your job.

Art:
For Art this week we would like you to design your own flower, read the PDF for instructions. If you would like to go further with your creativity once you have designed and drawn the flower you could make it using old newspapers or magazines, maybe tissue paper or even a 3D model. For Art this week we would like you to design your own flower, read the PDF for instructions. Today is 'Get Inspired Day'. We would like you to write a sentence and draw a picture on ‘What has inspired you this week?’ Did any ideas or activities inspire you? Did you try anything new that has inspired you to continue with this in the future?

We are starting a new Science topic on Sound. Read the PowerPoint and then complete the 'Sound Mindmap' to show what you already know. After that complete the 'Home Sound Survey'. Remember to think about for each one, what was vibrating to make that sound?
There is also a lesson pack on 'Twinkl Go' for the children, it contains videos and interactive words searches or games. It has 7 fun resources that cover everything that we have learnt and the new sound topic we are beginning this week. Parents, you just need to click Twinkl Go Login and then they type in the code QA2453 which will then allow you to access everything without needing a Twinkl Account.

Computing:
Today an activity has been set on Purple Mash on 2Do-, it is called shapes -Drag, tessellate and arrange your shapes to build a picture.


Art:
For Art this week you will be finishing your tree art. We have attached different examples of tree art from around the world. ( found in last week’s folder) You can use the learning from last week's Science and either draw your own stylised tree or make a 3D tree from paper mache or recycled items you can find at home. Next summarise the story using 'Plate Picture' use the story plan to help you formulate your ideas. Finally, read 'Descriptive Language' and write a short story using your story plan and descriptive language you have gathered.

Perhaps you would like to create a bug hotel if you have a garden. There is an activity sheet attached if you would like to use it for notes to help you when you record your findings on Purple Mash.

Go onto Purple Mash, click ToDo button. Can you identify different habitats in your area and record your findings. We would like you to go for a walk and see what habitats you can find in your local area. You can record your findings by taking pictures or making sketches. Then you can put these on class dojo. Perhaps you would like to create a bug hotel if you have a garden. There is an activity sheet attached if you would like to use it for notes to help you when you record your findings on Purple Mash.

Computing-
Go onto Purple Mash and click on the ToDo button. Use a simple computer programming language to control a 'turtle'. Learn about the many commands which can be used in order to explore shapes, programming and algorithms.

Maths- Today you will be multiplying and dividing numbers,including decimals, by 10. Look at the PowerPoint and complete the activity sheet. Use the place value grid to help you. Instead of moving the digits to the left like yesterday, you are moving them to the right this time. Please do not worry if you are finding this hard. Do the best you can. Decimals are VERY tricky!
Answers will be given to you on Thursday.
Remember to continue to go onto TT-Rockstars as we are in another competition with the other year 4 class.

Grammar- Go onto purple mash and click on the 2do button and then onto Story gaps. Complete the activity. You won’t be able to save it.

English- we would like you to describe a suitable setting for your superheroes. This setting will be included in your superhero story that you will be planning and writing tomorrow and Friday. In your setting remember to include these elements:
Where is your setting?
What does your setting look like?
What does your setting smell like?
What can you touch?
What can you hear?
Remember to use expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials, metaphors and similes.

Busy things website- to log onto busy things you have to click on the red LGFL log in and use your LGFL log in details. Go onto key stage 2 and then year 3/4. Have a look at the science topics and then learn your numbers to 10 in Spanish. Then have some fun exploring Busy things.

Maths- to add and subtract fractions. Read the PowerPoint and complete worksheet. Remember the rule; if the denominator is the same you only add or subtract the numerator.

English- Children to describe another setting. They could describe a cave, forest or anything they want. Go onto google, choose a picture and ask your child to describe it.

ICT- coding on purple mash. Click on the 2do button. Once children have done that they could go onto scratch and create their own story.

This work can be completed in any order and at the time you wish. We can’t wait to see some of your finished work.

Remember to go onto spelling shed. We will be playing a hive game today at 11am. I will be sending out the code at 10.50. Hopefully it will work 🤞Remember our TT-Rockstar competition with the other year 4 class so lots of encouragement on that. Science/topic- this term we are looking at recycling and what the impact is on the environment if we don’t recycle. Children to look at the recycling sign and create a collage. You can use newspapers, magazines etc.

Good morning, we hope everyone has had a good weekend.
We have set the work today on each subject Google Classroom. If you cannot access Google Classroom the work can be completed on paper.
Please see below the tasks set for today:
Maths- to find equivalent fractions of 1/2 and 1/4.

English- Go onto purple mash where a task has been set on the 2do button. Children are to describe a setting.

Computing: Log onto purple mash and complete coding assignment. .

This work can be completed in any order and at the time you wish. I If you are completing it on paper we would love to see a photo via Dojo.

Remember to do lots of other fun activities in between your work e.g. playing board games, learning a new skill and reading. We would love to know what else you have been doing.
