This week in English we have been writing our own narrative in the first person using the text Varmints. We have been learning how to create multi clause sentences and using fronted adverbials. In Maths, we have been using the bus stop method for division. For History this week we did a Now>Press>Play experience for Anglo-Saxons. We have been learning about Rama and Sita in RE. We have been learning about food chains in Science.
This week in Fig we have started a new text called Varmints and through the text we have been recapping on expanded noun phrases. Also, we have been learning about contrasting conjunctions and personification. In Maths, we have been learning the grid method in multiplication. In Art and Design, we have been learning about the different gradients in pencils and having a go at still life drawing. In Science, we learnt about the human digestive system through an investigation and for History we created a fact file on Lily Bader, who was one of the first black British women in the Royal Air Force during WW2.
In Maths, this week we have been doubling and halving two and three-digit numbers. In English, we have been writing our own newspaper report. In Science, we have been identifying and naming the different parts of the digestive system. In History, we have designed our own Anglo-Saxon settlement. We are continuing with the World Wide Web in computing and learning what a website is. In RE, we are continuing learning about Hindu Gods.
In English this week we have been looking at past and present tense in our writing. Also, we have been looking at fact or opinion. In Maths, we have been subtracting and adding 2 and 3-digit numbers. In Science, we wrote our conclusion from our investigation. In Art and Design, we looked at Paul Cezanne and learnt some new painting brushstrokes and colour mixing.
This week in English we wrote our police reports for our text Tuesday. In Maths, we have been learning about adding and subtracting from a given digit. In History, we have been learning through drama the priorities of invaders and settlers. In Science, we have been observing what happens to eggshells that have been left in orange juice, coke and water. In Art and Design, we painted plates in the style of the 'blue willow pattern' using the text Tuesday as our story inspiration.
This week in English we have started a new text Tuesday and have become detectives, searching for clues and evidence in the text. In Maths, we have been learning about place value. In Computing, we have been discussing networks and the job of routers. Our new topic in RE is Hinduism, and we have been thinking about the different faces of gods. In Science, we have started the topic Animals Including Humans, where we learnt about the different types of teeth and made our own set of teeth from playdough. In History, we have started our new topic Anglo-Saxons and thought about the definitions of invaders and settlers.
