Autumn term Week 8

In Maple class this week we have had a jam packed week, in literacy we have been looking at the book Under the Quilt of Night again and have been learning how to add onomatopoeias into our writing. For maths we have been working on place value and how to add and subtract different place value amounts. Please have a great half term and a well deserved rest.

Autumn term Week 7

This week in Maple class we have been reading the fantastic book Under the Quilt of Night by Deborah Hopkins and have been looking at her great use of similes and metaphors within the book. We again have been working on our money skills learning how to add and subtract different amounts. Following on from our book, in art we have been making our very own freedom blanket which will look amazing when finished.

Autumn term Week 6

This week in Maple class we have become historians learning about Mary Seacole and Harriet Tubman who are two fantastic women in their own way. We have also been working on our money skills and learning all about coins and their amounts and how we can spend them in shops.

In literacy this week we have been reading the books The Lost Words and Where The Wild Things Live the children have really enjoyed looking at these. We have started to learn how to play tag rugby in PE thanks to Miss Jones (please see photos). For science we have been learning how to make slime - which the children loved.
