About Us

Chestnut - Year 2

Welcome to Chestnut Class.

Our class teachers are Mrs Mantle and Mrs Smith, who are supported by Mrs Lawler.

Main Topics and Trips for 2022/2023

This year, Chestnut Class will learn about The Great Fire of London, The Rainforest and The Circus. You will find more information about how each topic is covered in our curriculum maps, which are at the bottom of this page.

Our trips and visitors for the year will be St Paul's Cathedral, The Bug Man, The British Library and Frylands for our overnight stay.

Chestnut Weekly Timetable can be found at the bottom of this page, however it may change due to special events or changes in the calendar.

Physical Education (PE)

Our PE days are every Wednesday and Friday

Your child needs to come into school wearing their PE kit, which consists of a plain t-shirt, plain joggers/shorts and a plain jumper. Trainers are also allowed. Your child will stay in their PE kit for the whole day.

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday, and will consist of a Mathletics task, set of spelling words (written and on Spelling Shed) and a writing task. Please return the homework on Thursday, so it can be checked.

Reading and Reading Records

We expect your child to read every day. Your child's reading record must be brought in every day to be signed. Reading is such an important part of your child's development so please prioritise this task.

Our Class Rewards

We have many rewards in Chestnut Class, which consists of:

Class dojo points, raffle tickets given out daily with a prize every Friday, certificates every Friday, golden globes and stickers.

To earn a raffle ticket, your child will move their name onto the reward image for showing us a behaviour or knowledge which is above our usual expectations.
