Cedar - Year 2
Welcome to Cedar Class.
Our class teacher is Mrs Rautenbach, who is supported by Ms Banks and Ms Croucher.
Main Topics and Trips for 2022/2023
This year, Cedar Class will learn about The Great Fire of London, The Rainforest and The Circus. You will find more information about how each topic is covered in our curriculum maps, which are at the bottom of this page.
Our trips and visitors for the year will be St Paul's Cathedral, a visit from Andrew Smith (Animal Encounters) and Frylands for our overnight stay.
Cedar Class Weekly Timetable can be found at the bottom of this page. Please note that it may change due to special events or changes in the calendar.
Physical Education (PE)
Our PE days are every Wednesday and Friday.
Your child needs to come into school wearing their PE kit, which consists of a plain t-shirt, plain joggers/shorts and a plain jumper. Trainers are also allowed. Your child will stay in their PE kit for the whole day.
Homework
Homework will be set every Friday, and will consist of a Mathletics task, set of spelling words (written and on Spelling Shed) and a writing task. Please return the homework on Thursday so that it can be checked.
Reading and Reading Records
We expect your child to read every day. Your child's reading record must be brought in every day to be signed. Reading is such an important part of your child's development so please prioritise this task.
Our Class Rewards
We have many rewards in Cedar Class, including:
Class Dojo points, a Class Behaviour Chart (based on the children's behaviour and effort throughout the day), and certificates every Friday. Certificates are awarded for Reader of the Week, Homework Book of the Week, Mathletics, Reading Eggs, Numbots and Star of the Week every week.
To move their name up on our Class Behaviour Chart, the child will show us a behaviour or knowledge which is above our usual expectations, and if they move to the top of the chart, they will earn a special prize!
