Ash

Welcome to Ash Class.

Our class teacher is Ms Richards, supported by Mr Senft  as our lead HLTA in Ash, Mrs Georgeson  as our lead HLTA in Maple and  further supported by  Miss Ditch, Mrs Mitsi , Mrs Senft, Miss Bashford, Miss Williams, Miss Jefrato and Miss Obee.

Main Topics and Trips for 2023/2024

This year, Ash Class will learn about Celebrations Around the World, Transport Through Time and Traditional Tales. You will find more information about how each topic is covered in our curriculum maps, which are at the bottom of this page.

Our trips and visits for the year will be: Puss in Boots (cinema), Bronze Age (virtual workshop), Science Museum, Cinderella (panto), Freshwater Theatre Company, a local visit for Geography and The Tate Modern. Perform's Drama4All is on offer twice a year, kicking off with Journey Around the World with Phileas Fogg.

Our life skills programme consists of some kind of cooking, an active activity such as yoga and something arty, all part of the ever popular Mash Friday. The children regularly head across the Green to the local corner shop to buy some of the products for this. Sensory circuits, sensory and attention activities, Lego Therapy and social interaction are all a daily part of learning.

Physical Education (PE)

Our PE day for the Provision is Tuesday. Some children will also be joining their mainstream classes for PE, again this is on an individualised basis.

Your child needs to come into school wearing their PE kit, which consists of a plain t-shirt, plain joggers/shorts and a plain jumper. Trainers are also allowed. Your child will stay in their PE kit for the whole day.

Homework

Homework will be set every Monday, and will consist of a My Mathletics task and phonics on Phonics Play a, set of spelling words (written and on Spelling Shed). There is no pressure  to complete this homework at home though.

Reading and Reading Records

We expect your child to read every day. Your child's reading record must be brought in every day to be signed. Reading is such an important part of your child's development so please prioritise this task.

Our Class Rewards

We have many rewards in Ash Class, which consist of:

Class dojo points, raffle tickets every Friday, certificates every Friday and stickers.

To earn a raffle ticket, your child will move their name onto the reward image for showing us a behaviour or knowledge which is above our usual expectations.
