Paul Haylock

Paul feels very privileged to be the Head Teacher at Poverest Primary School. He believes that all children should be equipped with the knowledge and skills to enable them to have life choices gained by having good qualifications. Paul has worked in education for 22 years and has been at Poverest for eleven years now. He is enjoying working with an outstanding team to provide an excellent quality of education for the children of Poverest.

Sarah Cooney

As a parent of two children at the school, I was keen to join the governing body to help support our school community's continued success. I care strongly about creating a positive, inclusive, and inspiring environment where all children can thrive.

As a company director in the creative arts and public relations industries, I bring skills in communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking to my role as governor. I am passionate about supporting the school, celebrating its achievements, and working with staff, parents, and fellow governors to help the school continue to flourish.

Michael Parker

Michael is an educationalist, geographer and experienced school governor. He is a creative thinker, who values people who both accept and respond to the challenging demands of genuine education. He is aware of the need to provide the best possible learning environments, required by teachers, in order to stimulate student curiosity and facilitate personal progress. Michael lives locally and was co-opted onto the Poverest Board as a community governor and is now a foundation governor. He currently shares the role of vice-chair.

Julie Nemeth

With over 20 years experience working within a mainstream secondary school Academy Trust including a sponsored primary school, Julie has extensive working knowledge and practical experience of Human Resources, premises and facilities management, technology support, finance and administration.  She is all too familiar with the challenges faced on a daily basis by staff and senior management and the important role school governors play in providing an impartial point of view, as well as invaluable support and guidance.

Sue Tysall

Sue is a co-opted governor and has over 18 years’ experience as a Headteacher in the Alternative Provision Sector of Education. She has extensive knowledge of Primary, Secondary and Special Schools’ education, and is familiar with all the challenges faced on a daily basis by both staff and Senior Leadership Teams, as well as the importance of the role that governors play in ­all pupils’ outcomes. Sue is passionate about all pupils’ realising their full potential and offering opportunities for them to succeed within the education system.

Chauntelle Wildman

Chauntelle is a co-opted governor with one daughter in the school. She is a Criminal lawyer with over 15 years experience in the Criminal Justice system. Chauntelle volunteers with an organisation that inspires students to have a career in law irrespective of their background and is a first generation graduate, therefore very passionate about the education of primary school aged children believing that children’s aspirations and belief in themself need to be ignited from primary school age and that a quality, well rounded primary school education should be available for all.  She is looking forward to supporting the school in carrying out their vision.  

John Wardle

John is a Parent Governor with 2 children at the school. He has over 13 years’ experience operating a children’s sport and activity company along with a few nursery & pre-schools. John has an in-depth and thorough understanding of Early Years, Safeguarding and running a business within the childcare sector. He is a firm believer of the role physical activity plays in the development of children and is looking forward to working hard with his fellow governors to realise the full potential of both the school and pupils.

Mark Wells

Mark is a co-opted governor. He is a qualified accountant and has worked in various audit and finance roles for over 20 years.  Mark is currently a fund manager and has experience managing budgets, identifying and controlling risk, mentoring and developing people, and investing in capital projects.  He also sits on the board of an infrastructure fund and volunteers as a board advisor to a tech start up.  Mark lives locally and hopes to help the school with advice and guidance in the areas of his expertise.

David Vernau

David's background is in Architecture, qualifying as a Chartered Architectural Technologist. He has been a secondary school governor for over 20 years, now attached to Poverest as a coopted governor in the primary sector. David specialises in building construction and health and safety. His personal interests are in Art, Films, and intricate woven novels. David has lived in Old St Pauls Cray Village for thirty odd years, a family man, involved local area matters.

Marianna Filippakopoulou

Marianna is a co-opted governor. She is a solicitor with over 10 years' experience. Marianna specialises in competition law and works in the public sector as a legal adviser for the UK competition and consumer regulator. Marianna has a strong interest in promoting equality and diversity within the legal sector and has participated in a number of initiatives which aim to offer work opportunities to under represented groups as well as encourage students and young professionals in pursuing a career in law. Marianna lives locally and looks forward to providing support to the school as well as the wider local community.
