Main Topics and Trips for 2026/27

Welcome to Fig Class! This year, our pupils will explore a variety of fascinating topics, including how children's lives have changed through history, the science of food and digestion, the wonders of the rainforest, and a look into different world religions. To see exactly how we break down each subject, please look at the curriculum maps located at the bottom of this page. We also have some wonderful trips planned to bring this learning to life, such as visits to the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Unicorn Theatre, along with a local woodland walk and a fun school sleepover. You can view our weekly timetable at the bottom of the page, though please keep in mind that schedules may change slightly for special events or calendar updates.

Physical Education (PE)

Physical Education takes place every Monday and Wednesday. On these days, children should come to school dressed in their PE kit and stay in it for the entire day. The required kit consists of a plain t-shirt in white or house colours, plain joggers or shorts, a plain jumper, and trainers.

Homework

Homework is set every Friday and must be returned by Thursday so that teachers can check their progress. Each week, the tasks will include at least two Mathletics activities, times tables practice on TTRockstars, and a list of spelling words to practice both in writing and on Spelling Shed.

Reading and Reading Records

Daily reading for 10 to 15 minutes is also required. Reading is vital for your child's growth, so please make this a daily priority. Children must bring their reading book and reading record into school every single day, so an adult can review their updates.

Our Class Rewards

Finally, we love to celebrate hard work and great behavior in Fig Class. Throughout the week, children can earn a variety of wonderful rewards, including Class Dojo points, raffle tickets, trophies for their desks, stickers, stamps, certificates, and exciting prizes like golden time or extra play.
