Our class teacher is Mrs Gunn, supported by Mrs Rixson and Mrs Robinson.

Main Topics and Trips for 2026/27

This year, Elm Class will learn about the Tudors, investigating Tudor England by exploring royal portraits, progresses and inventories to learn what life was like for both ordinary people and monarchs. We will also study the Viking Age by learning about Viking raids, trade, settlement, and the struggle for control of Britain as traders. In geography, we will learn about life in the Alps, investigating tourism in mountain environments as well as the climate and features of the Alps, with a focus on Innsbruck.  We also explore why oceans matter, examining the importance of oceans by learning how people use and affect marine environments. 

Our trips and visitors for the year will be the Science Museum, the Unicorn Theatre, Westminster Abbey, Tate Modern and many more.

Physical Education (PE)

Our PE days are every Tuesday and Thursday. 

Your child needs to come into school wearing their PE kit, which consists of a plain t-shirt or their house colour, plain black joggers/shorts and a school or plain sweatshirt (No logos). Trainers are also allowed. Your child will stay in their PE kit for the whole day.  

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday and will consist of a Maths.co.uk task and a set of spelling words (written and on Spelling Shed). They will also have the PROUD activities to complete. Please return the homework on Thursday, so it can be checked or help given.

Reading and Reading Records

We inspire a love of reading and, as such, expect your child to read every day. Your child's reading record needs to be signed three times a week by a parent/guardian to encourage their commitment. Reading is such an important part of your child's development, so please prioritise this task. 

Our Class Rewards

We have many rewards in Elm Class, which consist of:

Class Dojo points, certificates every Friday, punch cards for behaviour and exemplary work (these are then exchanged for free time or a dip in the prize box). PROUD points and house points are awarded by staff members and are part of a whole school competition.
