Parents

Parents/Grandparents are highly valued at Poverest. They are involved in learning with their children and some enjoy learning for themselves too. We provide workshops for supporting children's learning in a variety of areas e.g. reading, mathematics. Our parents enjoy HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) twice a week, starting on a Monday morning to set the week off. Volunteers are very welcome to support the learning of reading, writing and maths games. They also come in to enjoy creative projects, working alongside our fantastic Friends of Poverest.

Our parents with English as an additional language meet termly with our EAL teacher where they have the opportunity to meet other parents over a cup of tea. Mrs. Tryskla shares resources and answers any misconceptions or queries.

We also hold a termly coffee morning for the parents from our ASD Provision to provide them with an opportunity to meet other parents to share about school-life and any queries they may have. They also love to share the successes and celebrate what may be a huge step forward for their child.

Music is a huge feature of our school and we recognise the importance of our grandparents by hosting an annual Grandparents' Tea Party where the children entertain them as a way of saying 'Thank You'.

Parents also hold us to account. We have a class representative for every class and they are part of our Parent Forum. Questions are given to the class representatives which are answered at the half termly meetings. Parents are also given the opportunity to learn about many different areas of the school and we place importance in sharing our school improvement work.

Parents are always welcome at our school and if parents, or grandparents of other family members would like to help, please contact your class teacher for details.
