16/10/17  Brown Bear

This week in Ash Class we have been reading Brown Bear and learning our animals and colours.

In literacy we read the book and made stick puppets from the story. The children enjoyed the fact that the animals were the wrong colours. Some of the children wrote a book review and were able to sequence the events in the story.

The children have all enjoyed learning about their senses, for smell we smelt perfume, vinegar, soap powder, coffee and curry powder. This activity gave great amusement to all of us as the children's faces were a picture when they didn't like a smell. For our sense of taste we tried three different flavours of crisps and most of them liked the ready salted the best, again we enjoyed their reactions. The children also experimented with touch by closing their eyes and touching hard and soft materials.

In Maths the children have enjoyed counting and using our new "penguins" to support their learning.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents that attended parent's evening this week as it was really great to meet you all in person and share your children's achievements. All the staff hope you all have a lovely half term.
